6/11/14 Wednesday. Robin's Taxi Service For Hikers. 6/12/14 The Red Moose in Sierra City

Birdfood, Peggy & I all slept in, it had been a chilly night but no more rain fell.  We all ended up sitting at the picnic table together for breakfast.  We shared stories and troubles,  Birdfood has had terrible blister problems, a new issue for him.  We tossed out ideas and gave our best advice, sometimes it helps just getting another perspective,  he's been traveling alone & was very discouraged.
I wondered if Robin might have camped in the upper camp area so Peggy stayed with our tents and I walked up the road about a mile.  Robin wasn't there so I began walking back.  I was almost to our campsite when I saw him driving to meet me. What a wonderful sight!  It was so good to be together after almost 2 months!   He'd overnighted in Lone Pine and was able to help Bam Bam while he was there.  In the morning he'd brought 2 other hikers up to the trailhead as well as Bam Bam.  Peggy & I got our packs together, Birdfood was going down with us, and 2 other hikers hitched rides down with us as well,  4 people in the back seat, 3 people in front. The back of the truck loaded with packs & poles plus all Robin's stuff.
This is the crew in back, (l to r) one guy I never got introduced to, a nice girl from Holland, Birdfood and Bam Bam.
45 minutes later on a very windy narrow road, we'd dropped 6-7,000 feet into the valley where all the hikers got dropped off.  We then drove to a park where Robin set up his BBQ and cooked us a wonderful lunch!
Toasted panini sandwiches, ice cold drinks, fruit, all kinds of goodies!  Robin has put in hours on the road carting me around for this hike. This hike would not happen without his support and help.  Thank you so much!

Hunger satisfied, Robin began to drive us north to Sierra City.  The road took us around Lake Tahoe where we had dinner at a Thai restaurant, we got into Sierra City around 8:00pm.
We knew where we wanted to stay, at the Red Moose Cafe & Inn, they wholeheartedly support PCT hikers.  We rented their only 2 rooms, we couldn't get to sleep fast enough, all of us were exhausted.

6/12/14 Thursday
Sierra City is an old mining town with alot of charm.
Margaret and her husband, Bill own the Red Moose, she gave us a demonstration of a miners' helmet and a table lamp both lit by carbide pellets and drips of water.
Bill & Margaret.  Your hospitality was refreshing!
After lunch Robin started back home to Oregon and Peggy & I did our usual zero day chores; laundry, resupplied our packs with boxes Robin had brought for us, used the library Internet, purchased lunch items to round out our food for the next section. We tried to rest and put our feet up too. Our plan for the next day was to eat breakfast there, then Bill would take us 1.5 miles up the road to the trailhead.
